BRASSIA AND RELATED INTERGENERIC HYBRIDS

Native of Central and South Americas, the Brassia is an epiphyte growing on tree trunks and branches.  A medium-light and warm growing plant, the Brassia is relatively easy to grow and bloom at windowsills or under grow lights.  The flowers of this genus are easily recognizable by their very thin, elongated petals and sepals, and are hence commonly known as the Spider Orchids.  Its related intergeneric hybrids typically inherit the elongated petals and sepals characteristic and very often, when bred with non-Brassia parents will produce fuller star-shaped.flowers.
